Where do I begin? We were very apprehensive about our stay at the hotel because of the reviews, however, we were prepared to keep an open mind. On arrival the reception area was deserted and despite ringing the bell no one came out to greet us for an hour. When the gentleman eventually made his appearance it was with a very casual welcome. We were given a key and a remote control for the TV (odd) On entering our room we were pleased to see we had a light and fair sized room with a large balcony and an amazing view of the sea! The room was clean but certainly antiquated and in need of refurbishment. The bathroom was inadequate, small shower with a curtain that had seen better days. The toilet seat broke on day one and was replaced with a plastic one that didn’t fit correctly. There was a very old and dirty soap dispenser that was filthy inside. The hair dryer although it worked was also very old and the settings had broken. The balcony wasn’t swept and mopped on a daily basis as should have been especially during the pandemic. The table and chairs were old and rusty. The air conditioning unit was very old but worked efficiently. The TV was big and old although we didn’t watch it. For the first couple of days the pool was empty although they did fill it on our third day. The sun beds were old and not working properly. Breakfast was ok although most food was out of a packet and there was no fresh milk. Coffee was in flasks although cappuccino was offered on the third day of our stay. It was a 15 minute steep walk into Acitrezza, so I would advise renting a car to get about. There was a party or celebration for non resident gusts most nights outside which didn’t finish until midnight but yet there was no food on offer for residents either at lunchtime or in the evening. There wasn’t a bar and if you asked for a drink the choice was limited. The staff were helpful but didn’t actually put themselves out. We felt quite insulted that it was taken for granted that we accept the poor standard of accommodation. It requires a few million euros refurbishment. What a shame when the location us so stunning. There is a far better hotel up the road that has a restaurant and luxury rooms for not a lot more money. I wouldn’t advise anyone to stay at this hotel

our room was a sea view room so it had really brilliant views, The staff were very helpful with booking our sightseeing trips and could not be more helpful. The room was cleaned every day and the bed changed at least twice during our stay. The breakfast was basic but adequate, juices and tea and coffee with cake, cereals ,croissants, cheeses and meats etc. The hotel is on a hill so you have to walk down to the harbour for the restaurants, there are plenty to chose from. The walk around the coast is very pretty and there are bars and cafes to get a drink also places selling street food to take away. you then have to walk back up the steep hill to the Hotel. The hotel will book tours for you to Mount Etna, Syracuse, Ortega etc, a vehicle will pick you up at the hotel and return you. The negative side of the hotel is that it is very dated and in need of updating and repairing, in the room furniture broken, no basin plug, tiles off of wall laying on balcony, paintwork bad. Be aware that there is no lift to the two floors just stairs! There is a hotel restaurant that is used for functions and two nights this was open until 1am, and there was a lot of noise from adults and children and music, even with the balcony door of the room shut. The Hotel was ok to use as a base to explore it is a shame that it is dated and in need of repairs.

Amazing view so inevitably an uphill walk, however not as steep as we expected. Overall a very relaxing location. Yes the hotel is tired and dated but our room was clean. Powerful hot shower however a tiny cubicle.Simple breakfast served in a very quiet breakfast room, one day we were the only ones in and the silence was deafening! not even staff chatting in the background. early season visit so hotel and resort were quiet.
