Hotel Za Maria

We stayed with our 2 children for 2 nights at this hotel, a bit hesitant given many negative reviews. We changed our minds, as we did not encounter anything of what we read. Extremely clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, and noise due to the proximity of the state road and the railway practically irrelevant. We will definitely be back!

Excellent location and breathtaking view, but with ample room for improvement in service. ​Strengths: ​Location and structure: Priceless location. The sea and the pool are located right at the foot of the hotel: a great convenience for going from a swim in the sea to relaxing by the pool in an instant. ​Sea and beach: Spectacular and crystal-clear sea. The beach is pebbly, but once you enter the water, the seabed immediately becomes sandy. An umbrella and two lounge chairs are available both at the sea and at the pool, and there are also showers on the beach and at the pool. ​Room and panorama: The room is overall in good condition. An absolute highlight is the terrace with a truly wonderful sea view. The only note regarding the room: the presence of a somewhat dated bathtub, which should be replaced with a modern shower enclosure. ​Environment and proximity to the railway: Lunch and dinner are served on a beautiful panoramic terrace, caressed in the evening by a pleasant breeze. As for the passing of trains, it is quiet at night; they resume early in the morning, but it remains absolutely bearable. ​Aspects to improve: ​Dining and menu selection: The quality of the food is acceptable (you won't go hungry), but with a little more care and the addition of an appetizer and a more varied breakfast, the situation would improve a lot. Furthermore, I find it inconvenient to have to order the menu for the next day: preferences can change and it would be much better to be able to choose the courses directly at the time of lunch or dinner via an à la carte menu. ​Dining room service organization: The management of meal access needs to be reviewed. I find it unfair to have to wait for everyone to be present to be able to start eating: those who are punctual and hungry should be able to be served at the scheduled time, without having to wait for the convenience of the latecomers. A positive note for the 91-year-old lady whose name I do not know, the grandmother of the hotel, a nice, kind, and polite person with my little ones just like a grandmother. We will definitely return, hoping that our suggestions are accepted and put into practice so as to make everything top-notch.

A few days before our stay, the owner called me to tell me that he would move me to another property due to overbooking and would refund me 50% of the booking cost; it was too late to change plans, so we accepted. They put us in a B&B in town when we were originally supposed to be beachfront, and after two months of follow-ups, the owner insulted me and blocked my phone number. Obviously no refund and no apology. Beware of this property
