Tonnara Di Bonagia Residence

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our superior room was large and comfortable, with a balcony and sea view. The staff were friendly and efficient. Nice pool with plenty of sunbeds and pool bar. Whilst you do have direct access to the sea, there isn’t really a beach area. Breakfast was good and it’s worth noting that you can order better coffee and omelettes etc free of charge from the waiting staff. We didn’t take dinner in the hotel, but ate at four local restaurants instead. Good quality food, but surprisingly very few vegetables or salad on offer. If you’re a light sleeper, take earplugs because the hotel can be noisy late at night. Lots of hard floors and noisy people, who don’t appear to have any consideration for other guests. There is a but coming though. Bonagia is a small town, which is not very attractive. Great views, particularly at sunset, but not a lot else. Given the extortionate cost of taxis, a hire car is essential. We visited Trapani, San Vito La Copa (beautiful beach) and Erice. The hotel has its own private free of charge car park. We also drove into Palermo on our final day, which was an experience! If you aren’t a confident driver, don’t even think about it. The city is beautiful, but chaotic. Despite having pedestrianised areas, the streets are plagued by scooters etc. Driving elsewhere was a breeze though. Quiet roads in good condition. Thank you Sicily, we shall return.

An exceptional stay. The property is beautiful, very welcoming, and immersed in tranquility. We found a clean environment and extraordinary friendliness from the entire staff, from the dining room staff, to the pool staff, to the cleaning staff. A note of merit also for the cuisine: the breakfast is rich, everything is delicious and with a huge selection. What really made the difference, however, was the extraordinary hospitality of the manager Luca. Being on our honeymoon, he reserved daily attentions for us, small gestures, thoughts and unexpected kindnesses that made our honeymoon even more special. A rare dedication, a sincere nature directed toward all customers. Thank you Luca and see you soon. I can only say...... Highly recommended!
