Carasco Lipari

My partner and I spent 4 nights there the week after Ferragosto. The hotel is disorganized, the staff is stretched thin relative to the size of the hotel and, poor things, they even try to give their best effort, but they are mistreated by the owner who, unconcerned about the guests, literally "enslaves" the waiters, the receptionists, and the pool staff, with shouting, insults, and deplorable behavior. All my solidarity to the workers.. The absurd management means that a historic hotel, in an enchanting location, in a wonderful archipelago, turns out to be anonymous, disorganized, and not very relaxing for a vacation. Lipari and the Aeolian Islands are splendid, but the Hotel Carasco is to be avoided absolutely!

We spent a 6-night stay there, very comfortable hotel. Everything is designed to make you feel good, in peace and quiet. The hotel is located 1.5 km from the center but accessible on foot. comfortable room with a magnificent view of the sea and the garden which is beautifully adorned with flowering trees, exotic plants...a true haven of peace. A large and magnificent pool with sun loungers. You go down a few steps to the sea and there you go wow so beautiful. Breakfast just the way we like it with a very large selection of quality sweet and savory products. Magnificent hotel that I recommend for wellness lovers.

Just don’t bother, you’ll find yourself questioning what made you book this hotel within minutes of being there. The charm wears off fast. Rooms are extremely dated and dirty, food is questionable at best, avoid the breakfast at all costs, beach club is literally crumbling, pool area is dirty and there seems to be no customer service in sight. The plastic disposable cups in your room set the standard for your stay; no minibar or room amenities (no coffee machine or water bottle replenishment), a 70s style wall mounted suggestion of a hairdryer, broken/not working lamps, dirty ceiling fans, fraying towels, mouldy bathroom- even the ‘renovated’ ones and the rooms are cleaned to a most minimum level- no bed sheets changed, floors feeling dirty under foot. To top it all off the same loud piano music and singer is on until 11/11.30pm every night heard from anywhere in the hotel, good luck if you want an early night! Only on our last morning when checking out were we offered coffee whilst waiting for a taxi- then we replied yes please we were told to go to the kitchen that was open to help ourselves... just really really poor service. I really hope this hotel listens to guests in the future and improves its standards, you can only live so long on the excuse of it being a hotel with ‘old Italian charm’.
