Disio Resort

My family and I went to the Disio Resort for one week and couldn’t help but feel that our stay was encroaching on their primary focus: events. They had an event on five out of the seven days we were there, which meant shutting down the pool area from (on some days) 1pm onwards; we would have been left at a loose end had we not had a car. Their events looked very lavish which was a stark comparison from what was offered to hotel guests - here’s what you could have had if you had an event. The restaurant maintained a lean menu for the entirety of our stay, which is fine, had the focus on quality been there, which it wasn’t. For example, a green salad was merely iceberg lettuce chopped and put into a bowl, so the food was very disappointing. There were a couple of instances when we turned up for dinner around 8pm yet the restaurant lights were turned off and we had to convince the restaurant team to provide us with a meal. They had a ‘bar’ in reception which was less bar, more glorified mini bar with a bouncer and there was nowhere you could really go during the day for a quick snack or drink. The resort was very understaffed with the morning wait staff doubling up as the cleaning team - needless to say a jack of all trades mentality meant a subpar clean, invariably just a quick making of the bed and emptying of the bathroom bin. Albeit, the staff were very nice and accommodating. The grounds were immaculate and very well maintained so it’s understandable why events are the focus, however, when you see meat being freshly barbequed whilst you’ve just tucked into undercooked pasta with a bland a ragu you do feel a little short changed. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is definitely a good place to go, however, make sure you get a car because hotel guests aren’t well catered for when it comes to food and drink and your taste buds will likely be disappointed.

Recently stayed for two nights at this small, but quaint hotel and resort. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were dated, but clean and the breakfast was tasty; however, limited in variety. The first night of our stay we were unable to receive internet. I talked with the staff and they had informed me that they had recently changed to a different company and were having difficulty with the conversion to the new system. I accepted this reason and decided to follow through with our next scheduled stay which was two days later. Upon our arrival, I talked with the individual at the front desk and relayed our experience of the previous stay and he assured us that the problem(s) was fixed. We were shown to our room and our first mishap occurred when the TV did not work. We were shown to another room and settled in for the night, but within 10 minutes discovered that we did not have internet. I contacted the gentleman at the front desk who worked on the issue for at least 30 minutes, but to no avail. We were never able to receive the promised internet, however, this was not a fault of the gentleman who attempted to correct the problem; he tried his best and when he thought he might have the system up and running, we were hit with a severe storm that disrupted everything electrical. Understandably, not everything is within the control of the hotel you book.
