New Hotel Palace

Beautiful property, just outside the center, close to the historic wineries of Marsala. Impeccable staff and service, beautiful pool, and breakfast beyond all expectations

Great hotel, great value for money, in my opinion the best in Marsala, a beautiful experience in all areas, I could not have found better in the area, I will definitely return.

We stayed four nights at Grand Hotel Palace in Marsala. The hotel has a beautiful classic style and our room was nice, but the bed and pillows were very hard and there was no duvet, just blanket. The AC worked well but sounded a lot. The view was over the industrial and harbor area, which seemed to apply to most rooms. The pool area was the best thing about the hotel. It is large, green and quiet, with plenty of sun loungers and both sun and shade. The pool is large and nicely designed, with both shallower parts and a deep part of about 25 meters where we could exercise swim. However, the sun loungers lack cushions and become hard after a while. The pool bar was closed and the service at the pool was poor – sometimes we waited several hours without anyone coming to take orders. I also thought €10 for a beer with some chips and €4 for water was expensive. Breakfast had both pluses and minuses. The coffee, the freshly squeezed orange juice and the omelette to order were very good. However, the restaurant was often poorly cleaned after previous guests and cloth napkins had stains. Breakfast felt stressful and loud, especially because of how the staff worked. The service was unfortunately the biggest disappointment. Staff at both the reception and restaurant often felt stressed, tired and not very welcoming. Often even a simple “buongiorno” was missing when we passed reception or met staff in the morning. We saw the same staff morning, day and night, which perhaps explains some of the fatigue. We ourselves always tried to smile and be nice, and sometimes it helped. The cleanliness of the room was okay but not good enough according to me. Among other things, we had to clean the shower head from lime to get a normal jet of water. The hotel and pool area also feel worn out in some places. Unfortunately, the hotel is located in a rather boring industrial and port area. We had planned to have dinner at the hotel but after our experiences we decided to cancel and instead went to cozy Trapani. We still had four nice days together and enjoyed the pool area a lot. But considering the price I expected significantly better service, cleanliness and a more welcoming atmosphere. Overall, I think the hotel is too expensive for what you get and therefore we would not recommend it.
