Stunning location and exceptional staff! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful birthday evening spent in this facility in Syracuse. The setting is magnificent and enjoys a truly beautiful view. What made the difference, however, was the staff: Dario is a fantastic and incredibly helpful person, and the bartender Daniele is another wonderful person who welcomed us and took care of us in the best way possible. Highly recommended place, I will definitely return!

I celebrated my birthday at the Mercure Hotel in Syracuse and I would like to compliment all the staff for their professionalism, kindness, and availability. They were always friendly, attentive to the needs of the guests, and contributed to making the evening even more enjoyable. Truly polite and smiling people, who perform their work with passion. Stayed in this hotel for a week to use as a base to explore the eastern side of Sicily. The fairest way to describe our stay is to give our opinions via Pros and Cons. Pros: Friendly and approachable staff Clean modern rooms/facilities Great breakfasts Small rooftop breakfast, pool and sun lounger area Location for archeological park and catacombs Cons: The hotel has 93 rooms but only 15 or so tightly packed sun loungers/tables so a good chance of not finding somewhere to sunbathe/swim after a day out. Very noisy - area is very close to a hospital so all day and evening noise of ambulance, police and fire engine sirens. The hotel is next to a very busy road, so again very noisy especially from motorbikes throughout the day and evening and sometimes during the night Location - Too far away from most good restaurants that are a good 30 minute walk to the Ortigia area and another 30 min walk back. (taxi cost one way to Ortigia is approx. €15 from the hotel) You can hear other guests talk and tv noise through the thin bedroom walls There is no obvious place to dry wet items of clothing like swim wear The pillows are very hard. No UK TV channels Overall, if you are a light sleeper this hotel is not for you. However, the best connection to Catania airport, Ragusa, Modica and Noto is close by and easy to get the train to Taormina/Mt Etna from the station.
