Hotel Scala Stiegl

We were at the Hotel Stiegl Scala for 4 nights (1133.95 € for 2 people) at the beginning of August. Our newly renovated room was very generously sized. A step in the middle of the room would not have been necessary, but the balcony with a view of the garden and the pool was very pleasant. The swimming pool was a great way to cool off in the heat. The construction site next door did not bother us. Very positive: The steep price includes the South Tyrol Card, which we used intensively! The included breakfast was unfortunately not outstanding. Particularly disappointing for Italy: The handmade latte macchiato had no milk foam at all. Overall we were satisfied, even if the total price is quite high. A small note in conclusion: The first impression often counts, and in our opinion, the reception deserves a bit more charisma. The employees at the front desk are always sitting (they do not stand). Directly behind them is another desk with super worn-out chairs that feel like they have been there for 20 years. Receipts and papers also pile up there, which leaves a very unkempt impression overall. Here, the charisma is really in need of improvement.

Excellent hotel quite close to the center (5 minutes on foot). Spacious and clean rooms, excellent services (with the exception of the bar being closed on Sunday, so it wasn't even possible to get a toast). The pool is fantastic. The parking lot and garage in front of the hotel are convenient. Just one note: breakfast was not included in the reservation and was offered separately at a cost of 25 euros per person. The buffet was abundant and of high quality but, in my opinion, with an exaggerated price.

Hotel as well as room lived up to our expectations. There was a building arm because the hotel is expanding. But not the big problem. Bolzano is a lovely city and we would love to return,
