Piccolo Hotel Sciliar

Frequent visitors for over ten years to the Alpe di Siusi, we found ourselves having to stay for two days at the Piccolo Hotel Sciliar, the only one available. (there must be a reason). Embarrassing dinner, so much for traditional products as advertised on the site, abundant buffet but of poor quality, chaotic welcome, dirty room. The hotel appears dated and lacking basic maintenance, the main problem remains the cleanliness, completely insufficient. The shower consists of a direct floor drain with a stall composed of two side curtains to be used as needed, the bathroom floods and then becomes unusable. A rusty metal rack serves as a towel holder. Such a neglected structure is not acceptable at any price, it does not guarantee minimum hygiene standards. (see photos of power outlets in the breakfast room) Smell of cigarette smoke in the common areas. Two nights for two people with breakfast, one dinner for two, three Proseccos, one bottle of water, one of wine, three coffees: €482.00 This is not South Tyrol, is it possible that there are no checks to guarantee hygiene and basic services? Here they only care about making money without respect for the guest, at the time of check-out not a single question about the satisfaction of the stay. I do not feel like recommending it.

We stayed at the hotel the first week of August. The premise for the evaluation does not refer to the services, the kitchen or the room; but to the value for money that you can find at the Piccolo Hotel. In order: - room: absolutely clean with daily change of towels (congratulations!!) - facilities: swimming pool, children's play area and jacuzzi certainly are not the most qualitative views. - kitchen: dinner ok, by choice and decent for quality; perhaps you would need more attention to breakfast, really anonymous. Overall it is certainly not the hotel in which you can spend a lot of time to live it and relax (but from returning at about 17 until bedtime is absolutely fine). The value for money with other hotels in the Alps is absolutely the plus point since other (certainly nicer) accommodations cost several hundred euros more per week. Therefore in our view the Alpe di Siusi is made to live it in the middle of Nature so the Piccolo Hotel is absolutely recommended!!

The restaurant area has been renovated and is therefore nice and welcoming; the staff is much less welcoming (except for the very nice bartender). The room was horrendous: small, with an even smaller bathroom and a balcony closed off in an abnormal way as if it were part of the room, but in reality, it was not because it was separated by a low wall. Food of poor quality and not locally sourced: for dinner, frozen fish and supermarket bresaola; for breakfast, packaged jams and inedible croissants. The prices obviously do not reflect such a poor offering. Not recommended.
