What a great place with authentic look and fantastic staff

One of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We booked this place long in advance, paid a high price, and expected a warm, quiet, authentic Tuscan stay. What we got was the complete opposite. The staff were simply unpleasant – they ignored us the entire time, never asked if we needed anything, and made us feel unwelcome. At breakfast they went table to table greeting and chatting with other guests, but with us they didn’t even say good morning. At check-out, nobody bothered to ask how our stay was – just a cold and dismissive ‘bye’. The hotel itself was disappointing and badly maintained: The common areas were dirty and full of dead insects. The air conditioning in our room was tiny and completely ineffective, so we suffered through hot nights. The pool was not maintained and had very few chairs, so you couldn’t even enjoy it. When we asked for an iron, they told us the only one in the hotel was broken. Worst of all, the whole place was decorated with cheap, ugly plastic flowers, which was such a sad contrast to the beautiful Tuscan countryside outside. We ended up spending as little time as possible in the hotel and went out just to escape the terrible atmosphere. We honestly feel we wasted our money here and strongly recommend choosing one of the many other beautiful hotels in the area. This was a disgraceful experience.

This resort is located in a very quiet place, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is a large accommodation that consists of several parts. We shared a large apartment with friends, which consisted of two large bedrooms each with their bathroom, and a communal kitchen and lounge (which we hardly ever used). The resort has a large restaurant (large breakfast buffet and possibility to eat there in the evening) with outdoor area, a swimming pool (not very large but sufficient) with bar and free parking. Cortona is about 8 km away, so you have to take the car to get there. This is a very suitable place to spend a week in a historic building and it is a great base to visit interesting places in the area (Cortona, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, San Quirico,...). For us a successful stay!
