We booked this hotel through Expedia back in January 2016 for a stay at the end of April -May2nd. There was no email contact for the hotel, just a phone number. I called the hotel a few days prior to arrival to confirm our reservation and found out the hotel was closed down and were not taking any guests. We didn't receive any notice from Expedia so I called them to confirm this was the case. Expedia contacted the hotel and confirmed it was shut down due to a death in family with no foreseeable reopening. Expedia then cancelled my online booking. We needed to find a new hotel and were leaving in 2 days. After 4 hours on the phone with Expedia (and a lot of frustration) they were able to rebook us in a new hotel but had to pay the difference for an 'upgraded' room that we didn't end up getting....but that's another story. Always call ahead to confirm your reservation, especially with smaller hotels.

This hotel (guest house) is quite the hidden gem... Value for money, clean and brilliantly located. It is close to the train station, walking distance to all the major sights except for Piaza de Michaelangelo (which is outside of the city). It is a house turned into a guest house and the owner stays in it as well. The setup is old style, amenities are also old but it gives you a feeling of staying at a cozy personal place. Very close to the local market as well. Angelica is very helpful and takes good care of the guests! If you are not in the mood to spend a lot but still be central - look no more!

We couldn't have been happier with our hotel choice in Florence. The location was great - close to the train, the market, and everything we wanted to see and do. Angelica was truly an angel. My purse was stolen night number two in town (ladies - DO watch your purses!!) and she helped us until late in the night with collecting phone numbers, mapping places we needed to go (police, consulate), and making sure we were able to deal with all the issues that we needed to take care of. The room was spacious and kept impeccably clean. We asked for wine glasses and opener, and after the first day they refreshed them always and even "decorated" with napkins each time. There was a fridge in the room, which was great for breakfast (great Italian espresso "to go" from a coffee shop down on the corner and breakfast bought at one of several groceries on the same block) and free WiFi was a nice bonus. The only two things that some folks may find troublesome: 1. Street noise, which despite the fact we were on the fourth floor, was significant. I didn't find it any worse, however, than any "in-city" hotel. 2. The hotel is on the fourth floor, which is serviced by a very small elevator and stairs We took the stairs always for exercise, but if you aren't into climbing stairs, be prepared to take the elevator (max two people) to make the slow journey upward.
