De Lanzi

Would never go there again. when we got there a notice said the lift was not working, it had obviously been there for several days, Reception was up several flights of steep stairs, yes there was a button to press to get porter assistance but when you have a weak knew and an issue with stairs that is not a great help. I dont understand why the hotel didnt inform us in advance so we could have easily booked somewhere else. We asked for our money back so we could go elsewhere, they said they would find us a room in a linked hotel. In the end they took us to a top floor apartment... lift there was working... but only skylights so no view. We had booked Lanzi as it boasted rooms with good views. We didnt want an apartment, we wanted to be able to use hotel facilities, have breakfast there, use the bar, talk to other residents, if we had wanted an apartment we would have booked one... at this stage we had little choice but to accept. We had paid for breakfast, we were told we could use Lanzi... but steps !!!! or another linked hotel with far less steps. We could contact Reception from Apartment internal phone but signal was so poor I could hardly hear what they were saying. We asked day before if they could book a taxi to airport, they said could only do morning we were leaving, which we did only to find out that meant the taxi would come in a few minutes so we had to rush down. The picture of Reception does not give a picture of what the rest of the hotel was like. To be fair porterage was good

The real advantage of the hotel is the location. It is just a couple of steps from the Duomo and therefore in an ideal position to visit the main attractions of Florence. I found it a bit expensive for what it offers. The rooms are very small, the furniture is old, and modernization would be useful; the breakfast is nothing special (there was no sparkling water), the air conditioning is not the best (e.g., it does not have a dehumidifier function), and the elevator is very small and a bit shabby. I don't think I would return to this hotel if I found something more modern at the same price and in a similar location.

The only thing worse than the service was the age of the beds.
