Hotel Abaco B&B

A pair of sneakers were stolen from my room, and the pension (because it is not a hotel) never took responsibility. Even after my stay, I sent more than one email inquiring about them with the best intentions, and they never responded... The breakfast is managed by two older individuals, who are very rude and not helpful at all. I do not recommend it.

Authentic 500 year old building with adequate rooms. The location is perfect! Walking distance from train and to site seeing venues. The manager prepares continental breakfast in the morning. Not your cookie cutter modern hotel but part of a true historical Florence adventure.

Hotel Abaco is a throwback to another time. We got a kick out of the decor - each room named for a different renaissance artist. It has old time charm in abundance. But it is old. At check-in, our keys were waiting in the lobby on a hook that we retrieved upon arrival, as promised. No one was at the front desk to greet us. The room was fine and the air conditioning much appreciated on the 90-degree days of our stay. Consistent with other reviewers, we found the bathroom extremely small, and in desperate need of maintenance. The breakfast was modest; breads, juice and coffee. The WiFi was strong by the front desk, but unusable in the room. The location is the hotel’s greatest asset. Every major site is within walking distance. Future guests should note before booking that there are about three flights of stairs and no lift. Be aware that the owners do not speak much English- which is fine - it is Italy after all. We stayed in the high season and the price was competitive. You are paying primarily for the location. Our stay and Hotel Abaco will be memorable for a variety of reasons it definitely stands out from the “usual” hotel experience. We recommend this hotel for those who know what they are getting and do not need high speed internet or any concierge treatment.
