Rex Hotel

Well-located hotel with good staff service but neglected in the maintenance of the facilities. Deteriorated bathroom with broken tiles in the bathtub and on the floor, moisture on the ceiling, baseboards with stickers, walls with unfilled holes, and windows blocked with a key handle. A minibar is offered, but there is none in the family room. However, we had a good rest thanks to the location towards the inner courtyard and an acceptable breakfast.

We are a couple of retired persons living in Sydney, Australia. We were planning to revisit Florence sometimes this year. While I was doing my search for accommodation, I found Rex hotel is one of the ideal places to stay for a couple nights for somebody travels by the trains: It is very close to the trains station and historical center with numerous facilities around it. Also, very importantly, it offers the best rate in the area. By mistake, at my age, I accidently booked a non-refundable room for wrong dates, and I did not have recollection of my booking until a couple hours late when I saw the bank transaction. I wrote an email to explain my situation to the hotel management; fully aware that they don't have to refund me for this non-refundable booking. Fortunately, the hotel has refunded my payment. It shows how kind the people are in this hotel, from the management to the receptionist who first received my email. I highly recommend this hotel to every traveler. For me, when I travel, the most important thing, is to know the locals are kind from their heart.

We stayed for one night in this hotel during our weekend in Florence: the highlight is definitely the central location about ten minutes walk from all the main tourist attractions and the sration of Florence SMN, the structure is a bit dated but I expected nothing different being in a historic center; the rooms are clean and courteous and helpful staff that allowed us to leave our suitcases at the hotel just arrived and well before the actual check-in. The hotel is located in a pedestrian street in front of pubs, there can be a bit of noise until late at night on weekends. in general our experience was very positive.
