Badia a Coltibuono

This afternoon we were in this unique and rare location. Our visit was managed by Marlie, very talented, who in Italian, English, and Spanish accompanied us through the history of the place and the tasting of red wines that were a pleasure to drink!!! Great job, Marlie

Badia di Coltibuono is a monastery with a thousand-year history, surrounded by a breathtaking garden filled with flowers and aromatic herbs. From the moment you arrive, you feel transported to another era. The rooms preserve the charm of the old-world style while remaining comfortable and beautifully arranged. The restaurant is equally impressive, beautifully presented dishes, a thoughtfully composed menu, and excellent Tuscan cuisine. But what makes this place truly special is the feeling of being completely disconnected from the world. Here, you can escape the noise and rush of city life and simply slow down. At night, it is so wonderfully dark that the stars seem incredibly close, and the silence is almost something you can hear. If you are visiting Chianti, Badia di Coltibuono is an absolute must-see! not just a place to visit, but a place to experience.

It is regrettable to note that the bottle of Chianti Classico purchased at the estate is offered for up to half the price on some merchant sites. The on-site experience also disappointed us: the tour felt more like a tourist walk than a real sharing of the estate's expertise, and the sale was made without any advice. The salesperson, in particular, could not tell us which grape varieties were used in the composition of the wine we were buying. That was the only shadow on a stay in Chianti that otherwise enchanted us.
