Duca Del Mare

Welcoming environment, very kind staff, Armando the manager is a truly accommodating and professional person, highly recommended if you are looking for tranquility a stone's throw from the center of Massa Marittima.

I propose a very clear version, but formulated in a way that remains credible and difficult to dispute on TripAdvisor: Cold welcome and unprofessional attitude. To be avoided. Unfortunately a very negative experience. Upon our arrival, even though the room had already been paid for, the person at the reception did not even get up to accompany us or point out the room to us. The only person who welcomed us with a smile and helped us concretely to find our way was the cleaning lady, whom we thank for her kindness. The thing that left us most perplexed is that practically the first information received at the reception was that, after checkout, we should not ask to use the pool because we would not be allowed to. A clarification made with a tone that we found truly unwelcoming and, moreover, completely useless: during our stay we spent three days in Follonica and we had no interest in using the pool after our departure. The breakfast service was also unpleasant: the attendant seemed constantly nervous to us, with brusque manners and a passive-aggressive attitude that certainly does not contribute to creating a relaxing atmosphere. In general, we perceived an attitude of condescension toward us. The feeling, naturally personal, was almost as if we were being judged even for arriving in a normal compact car instead of a prestigious one. Furthermore, the rooms seemed rather dated to us, and the bed creaked continuously. It's a shame, because courtesy, a smile, and a minimum of attention toward the guest would be enough to completely change the experience. We, unfortunately, would not return and do not feel we can recommend it.

I think it is a nice property but not very serious; I had booked two nights to spend with friends who were already there at the property, they sent me the confirmation email, everything ok, only for a cancellation to follow shortly after due to a mistake on their part, with staff with little tact and no apologies, saying that something like this happens every now and then... well...
