Locanda San Marco

Not a nice area and poorly frequented. Recently, I noticed that they are renovating ... good for them. The woman with the bob haircut was rude and unpleasant. Secluded, damp. Near that horrible Piazza San Lorenzo, which, after its recent renovation, looks more like ... a cemetery.

All of the excellent review of the Locanda are 100% correct. It's a unique facility, far above and quite different than your ordinary Italian hotel. Even if you don't need the extra space, I would suggest splurging on the Boroni apartment. It's huge, with two bedrooms, a serviceable kitchen and dining area and a sitting area set oddly off to the side. It's on the top floor (only stairs, one drawback) and dead quiet. We didn't think breakfast was included but it was and it's frankly one of the best we've ever had in Italy. There was also a sign in the apartment about room service every 3 days (or something) but they came every day, so I'm not complaining. Pistoia is too far from Florence but if you find yourself in town, stay here.
