Extremely disappointing stay at the Gran Palazzo in Livorno. A structure that presents itself as a five-star hotel, but unfortunately is not even worth three for the quality of service, cleanliness, and organization. The building and the location are certainly beautiful and have great potential, but the entire structure appears decayed, neglected, and poorly maintained. From the moment of arrival, evident problems emerged: no one came to take our luggage, I had to enter the hotel personally and wait several minutes to get a cart. In the meantime, the room was not ready, and we went to lunch leaving the luggage in the entrance, completely abandoned. After about an hour, we returned and the luggage had still not been taken to the room. Moreover, a room booked for three people had not been adequately prepared: they had to set up the extra bed (to call it a bed is a euphemism, better to say a dog bed) only after our arrival. The cleaning during the stay was very superficial. For days, dirty cups and glasses were not replaced, and on some occasions, toilet paper was not even replenished. One evening, around 8:00 PM, I realized I was out of it, and when I called the front desk, I was told that I would have to go down personally to get it because there was no one available to bring it to the room. An unacceptable response for a hotel that defines itself as luxury. On the last day, the situation was even worse: the room was not actually cleaned. The beds were made, and that was it. Dirty on the floor, the bathroom had not been cleaned, the sink neither, the towel rack was left open and without towels inside, and the towels were not replaced. There is a clear lack of staff and control over the quality of service. In conclusion, it was a terrible stay. It is difficult to understand how a structure in these conditions can maintain a five-star rating without adequate checks over time. A real shame, because the building has great potential, but today it is managed insufficiently and far from the standards it promises.
