The villa dates back to the 16th century and has been used as a hotel since the beginning of the 21st century. It is a 20-minute drive from Lucca. The grounds are small, but there is a swimming pool, restaurant and recreation area. My room was spacious, with a balcony. What didn't you like? For breakfast, I was charged an extra 10 € for an omelet, which is amazing for a 5* hotel. And overall, I didn't feel very welcome. For 400 euros a day, I expected more.

The Hotel sells itself as a 5 Star Hotel, but it absolutely is not. The room, on the first floor, is very large and also the bathroom (that's why I don't put 1 dot in the review, but 2); everything else is really bleak: old and poorly maintained furniture, scratches on the front door (inside), terrifying mattress. Non-existent Service, one person at the reception not particularly friendly. Tennis court unusable, indeed abandoned. Passable swimming pool.

The hotel is completely inflexible once your booking is made. Despite giving them six months' notice, they refused to change or modify our dates. Due to a family bereavement, we were no longer able to afford the trip, but the hotel showed no understanding and did not accommodate our cancellation request. We were also unable to speak directly with a manager or supervisor.After multiple calls back and fourth getting nowhere we were able to cancel the room with a 30% charge of the total booking. Be aware. We placed our original booking through booking.com who were halt to fully refund us with no charge or commission fees to the hotel, but the hotel would not have any of it, Be aware!
