Grande Bretagne

When I stay at a luxury hotel like this, I ask myself if they provided a total luxury experience which I could not have expected to be better. This hotel checks all the boxes. Superb concierge. Dimitris compiled excellent restaurant suggestions and arranged a superb tour. The room was wonderful and all the service providers were excellent. They have a superb restaurant on the top floor with view of the Acropolis. I did not partake of the breakfast as I do not eat a full breakfast. I really cannot add to this.

Just spent 3 nights at the Grand Bretagne and it was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the breakfast we had every morning was delicious. The views of the Acropolis each morning were stunning. The location is very central and walking distance to many places. Highly recommended!!

This hotel is grand and location in the center of Athens is great, but here are my cons: We paid about $600 US for a king size bed with parliament view. The room itself was very nice, comfortable bed and linens and the bathroom had a lot of marble and solid metal hardware. But the room was about 15’x15’, on the first floor out of 8 on a very busy and loud street. There was also construction directly across. Breakfast was not included and would cost an additional 33 euro per person. Hard to find a drink under 14 euros and while the roof top restaurant was top notch, we were charged $4.50 euros for water and (believe or not) we were charged $1 euro for fresh ground pepper. If I read the signs correctly, the pool, pool bar closed at 6:00 pm. Other than great staff, I just can’t say we got our money’s worth. We tried a 5 star and came away such a mediocre experience, that next time will spend money elsewhere.
