Pietra del Diavolo

Had a great time in the villa. Very spacious rooms, well equipped kitchen and great pool. All set in a very picturesque setting with beautiful views and a good location. Car essential! Silvia always helpful with all my questions. Thanks very much!

We stayed for two weeks in this lovely five bedroom house. It was very convenient to Montepulciano which is one of the best towns I've visited (car needed though - only a couple of minutes drive but not walking distance) and only just over an hour from Florence, Siena and other day trip destinations. The views from the house were lovely and it is beautifully decorated with lovely gardens. It was quiet and peaceful, clean and has everything needed for a very relaxing holiday. Silvia, the owner, is very helpful and provides all the information you need to find everything in the local area. Beds are huge and super comfy. Showers are hot with good water pressure. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, even if you are cooking for a large group. The pool was spotlessly clean and just beautiful with an infinity edge. We really enjoyed our time here.

We were a party of 8 seniors ranging in age from 72 to 75, one largely confined to a wheelchair and another with severe mobility problems, using a walker. Villa Pietra dei Diabolo was perfect for us. Two bedrooms with ensuite baths on the ground floor, no steps and two upstairs with ensuite baths as well. The fifth bedroom and bath (not ensuite) was perfect as a "hall" bath for anyone and a great place to hang the occasional laundry. Silvia greeted us on arrival and explained the functioning of all the appliances and conveniences, albeit it took another lesson to get the all right. We stayed a week, touring throughout Tuscany from Florence in the north, to Volterra in the West, to Orvieto (not technically Tuscany but Umbria), to Assisi in the east (also not technically Tuscany but Perugia), not to mention Montepulciano itself and neighboring Pienza. While there may be more centrally located bases, we so enjoyed the million dollar view from the bedroom windows and from the patio, that the distances melted into nothing. A very convenient grocery, albeit small, in San Albino, just 3 kms from the Villa, made provisioning a breeze, taken with the COOP just a few kms further in Chianciano Terme, everything was handy. In San Albino, even a Pharmacy and Hardware store. The kitchen at the villa was fully equipped and easy to use. In fact, Silvia had arranged for a local chef to come in one night and give some cooking lessons and prepare a meal for the eight of us. this was a real treat and not a budget blower at all. Once we mastered the individual room heaters, all was well for ambient temps. In the great room , a functioning wood fireplace provided all the heat needed. The TV and wifi worked throughout the stay. The Villa has been heavily restored but retains the look and feel of an old Tuscan villa. Beautiful glazed tile floors, very comfortable beds and quality linens plus complimentary couple of bottles of local very excellent wines. The Great Room sofas could be stiffened up a bit, old knees just dont want to rise from such a low position, but this is really a minor quibble. The gated entry to the property and the isolation made us feel extremely safe throughout our stay. Petra dei Diabolo is an excellent property. I can imagine staying here for an extended period or a week as we did. Silvia is a warm welcoming hostess and a very good business woman. It was a pleasure dealing with her, both in advance of the stay by email and during, by phone and email and in person.
