Having stayed at this B&B five years ago, I booked a return visit without considering other options; this ended up being a mistake. Camere Andrei isn’t a B&B nor is it a hotel - it is a room which lacks charm and very basic incidentals such as cups or even a kettle. Ok, so you don’t want the bother of serving breakfast any longer, why not provide a kettle and tea bags? Staying in Pienza is fabulous- staying at Camere Andrei is not.

My client had booked me 2 night there in September (I was shooting a wedding near Pienza), It wasn't my first time there, I had stayed at the same place the year before and everything went well, but this year my experience was completely different.
I arrived with more than 2h delay in Florence due to a mechanical problem with the plane, after landing, I called the B&B to let them know I'd be late, it was a bit after 10pm the time I was supposed to arrive at the B&B.
The person who picked up the phone was laughing and told me "you think I'll wait for you, or wake up in the middle of the night??" then said, "you should find another place to stay" and hanging up on me. That was possibly the rudest anyone working in the hospitality business was to me.
I can understand that I would no longer be possible for me to stay there given the late hour I would arrive, but there is a way to respond and laughing at me on the phone isn't the proper way to do so. he could also have proposed to leave the key hidden outside for me to find and to get in the place on our own and the do the check-in in the morning but no, his only way was to be extremely rude.
But in a way, this misadventure worked well, as I then booked a room in a much better place with much nicer host, there: Agriturismo Podere Santa Maria

My husband and I, along with two other couples, stayed at this B&B five years ago and had such a wonderful experience we decided to return as part of our 40th anniversary trip. This time around was disappointing. We were traveling with friends and family and had four rooms booked. All of the rooms were booked directly with the B&B, our friends arrived to find two rooms had been cancelled. We found out that b&b Andrei now uses booking.com to reply, our friend never saw the email and had no idea there was a problem with the booking. In all fairness they did help them find rooms, but we had hoped to all be staying together. When my husband and I arrived we were told breakfast was not included with our room but my son and daughter-in-law had breakfast. First time I have stayed at a B&B that didn't include breakfast. After seeing what was offered in my son's room I really didn't care, prepackaged items that you would pick up in a grocery store.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and are in easy walking distance to the town. If you choose to stay here skip the breakfast and walk a few blocks to the delicious pastry and coffee shop by the church.
