Minerva

The Minerva hotel is nicely located near the Pisa train station and airport. The rooms are small but clean. Everyone was nice and the breakfast was a nice spread with plenty of choices of breads, meat and cheese cuts and fruits and vegetables. They were kind enough to make me a big cup of coffee which I really appreciated. The rooms are air-conditioned but for some reason they could not turn on the AC until June 1sr. It did not prove to be a problem as the night was cool enough to close the window later. There is no lift so that would be my only complaint as I am over seventy-five. Oh, ask for a room facing the garden as it will be much quieter.

Location -10minutes from Piza Centrale station -20/25 minute walk to the Leaning Tower of Pisa We booked an economy room which was clean and larger than most economy rooms in Italy There was air con in the room but there was no remote to switch it on. As we arrived past 10pm we could not ask anyone for the remote as reception was closed . Breakfast was nice. Friendly budget hotel for our one night stopover in Pisa .

My room was basic but clean. The ensuite was very cramped with a particularly small shower cubicle (I am fairly slim and average height but still only just fitted in it) and a step up halfway across it. The mirror had a very good light above it though. My room looked out over the garden and the windows were covered with a good flyscreen, which allowed bug-free ventilation. Breakfast included a very good choice of fresh fruit and yoghurt (in addition to the usual continental breakfast items), and they were able to supply a delicious decaffeinated capuccino, which made me very happy. But there was a kind of background gurgling noise all night (not sure if it was the fridge, the plumbing or someone else's air con), and the mattress and pillows were rather lumpy/hard, which made for quite a restless night.
