Firstly, the entrance isn't the one on the receipt, that is the back of the property so we found it hard to find. The three or four rooms at the top of the property are relatively accessible but the rooms at the bottom are certainly not. The rooms themselves are big & immaculately clean but the kitchen in our room was only very rudimentary, not a bin or even a cloth to wipe down. The bathroom was very clean but rudimentary as well. The bed was probably the hardest bed I have ever slept in. Guillia was very helpful and lovely.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Though we did not feel comfortable at this place. When we arrived it was hard to find someone to give us our room-key. They wrote us that they offer breakfast for €6 per person, but when we arrived they cancelled this service. It seemed thay were not used to receiving guest. San Donato is a very nice place to visit, but I would consider staying somewhere else.

We stayed in Campiglia, a large, comfortable, well furnished and spotless apartment set in a building a short distance down a road from the main farmhouse. The location made it even more tranquil and relaxing than the main house would be. Obvious attention has gone into its simple yet tasteful decoration. Giulia, her parents and grandmother couldn't be more helpful, quickly responsive to our needs and friendly without imposing. It was lovely to walk around the farm - the landscaping and pool are beautiful. Good restaurants and food shopping are a short walk away in the small historic town. The location, not far from the main highway from Florence to Siena, makes it possible to explore Chianti and beyond during day trips. We highly recommend a walk among the vineyards and olive groves at sunset. Humberto's Chianti Classico is excellent!
