Agriturismo Colle di Mezzo

After 5 weeks in hotels we booked a quite country retreat at Colle Di Mezzo in beautiful Montefollonica. Georgia was a fantastic host inviting us to share a birthday meal on our first night and making sure we had everything. We loved watching the town of Montepulciano at night from our bedroom window and waking to the sound of sheep grazing on the pastures was fantastic. The views are stunning from the pool and our room. What more can we say that if you want a quite spot to relax and get immersed in the Tuscan culture and sights this is it. If you want people and hustle and bustle it's not for you. The drive everyday was an experience that changed with the light and weather. Loved it. Salvatore the wine was excellent.

The place is not a beautiful superb toscan style palazzo with frescs on the walls but it has all that you need. The area of the property is very nice and well kept. The pool is clean, with refreshing cool water, the pool is shallow enough from one side or non-swimmers and deep enough on the other to jump on your head. The view from the pool area is great: you have all the Montepulciano and its surroundings in sight. Regarding the hosts couple - Georgia is kind-hearted and helpful, and the only who speaks English. What we missed in the apartment were: mosquito nets on two windows, espresso machine (not mocca), some minor eating utensils. Internet quality is good overall.

A fantastic get away from it all location, village was beautiful and a short ( but very uphill hike ) but again- amazing views & lovely restaurants. The accommodation was generous in size, a fairly well equipped kitchen- but NO COFFEE MAKING EQUIPMENT?!- in Italy?! Only criticism; the family who owned it did not live on site and the bar with food/wine tasting evenings as mentioned on their website was never in operation- infact the owner kept his lawn mower in there! A shame.
