We arrived late evening June 2026 after out flight transfer and was immediately made to feel very welcome. We found our room very comfortable and very clean indeed.
Following our first night, we came down to a wonderful welcome and guided to a table for our breakfast, of which there was plenty to choose from along with a choice of beverages to start the day along with an amazing view of the lake. We sat each morning admiring the view, chilling and people watching.
This is an amazing family run hotel where we were made so very welcome by the family and all staff members, everyone went above and beyond to be so attentive, we could not give enough praise to everyone there!!!
The hotel is perfectly located, just on the outskirts making it quiet yet a very short walk to the restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlours and shops. The whole area has an ambiance and views which are amazing. Garda is ideally located to visit many parts of the lake, we used a combination of the ferries and buses, we done a little research before our visit, however the hotel owner was so helpful to guide us with locations and transport on a number of occasions.
We cannot thank the family and all staff at The San Marco hotel enough; we will definitely be back to this hotel to explore more of lake Garda.

Fabulous, traditional , family run hotel.
Everyone friendly and helpful.
Spotless everywhere and good air con.
Lovely breakfast on the terrace and we loved the church bells every morning , it added to the charm of the place.
Easy to get to the ferry and bus station to see different parts of the lake.

Review of Hotel San Marco, Garda town (Piazzale Roma, 1, 37016 Garda VR, Italy)
Booked via TUI and travelled with my husband and son on 18th July for a week at this lovely hotel. We stayed in room 24, family room with a balcony in one room and window in the other (sliding doors to separate rooms) both with stunning views of the lake. Some little toiletries provided in the bathroom and the rooms were airconditioned. There was a fridge which was so nice to keep our drinks cold. Tea and coffee were also provided but didn't use them. Nor did we use the TV either but there if required. We used 3 pin plugs for our appliances. Room and hotel very clean and tidy with lots of history.
We had breakfast most days apart from a couple because of early starts for trips/flight home and the hotel provided us with a carry out which we collected in the morning. The hotel offer food on a couple of evenings too which was tasty and delicious.
The owner, family and staff are outstanding. They are all so friendly, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend staying here and we would certainly revisit.
The hotel is situated in a fantastic area with restaurants, bars and shops. Garda bus station and ferry terminal walkable too (5 min / 10 min). Whilst we were in Garda we wanted to watch the F1, we went to Bar Sport Garda which is just around the corner from the hotel which do lovely toastie sandwiches/rolls.
Lake Garda is so pretty and getting around is easy enough. We went out early each day and either caught the bus or ferry (hardly any queues and very organised).
We went to from Lazise by ferry.
Malcesine by bus (number 484) then ferry to from Limone then ferry back to Garda town.
Spiazzi by bus (number 476) to see the church built into the mountain (Sancutary Madonna della Corona), if going do note with bus coming back as there only seemed to be two of them (1 at 12.30pm, the other at 4.20pm) but they weren't busy and Spiazzi town had a handful of restaurants/bars.
Sirmione by ferry, visited the castle and had a little boat trip around the peninsular. Sirmione was a very busy town and not for me but was beautiful.
We went on a trip to the Dolomites, it was a 12 hr trip but so worth it (got the cable car to the top). Booked via Viator because their day (Mon and Fri) was better for us than TUI (just Friday).
In Garda we had a walk up La Rocca to see the statue, small caves and amazing view of Garda (walk starts left of church behind hotel and there are signs further along walk), wasn't too strenuous and round trip of couple of hrs.
If you were to stay at Hotel San Marco, Garda town you will not be disappointed. We were very impressed and it was exactly what we were after, a traditional italian hotel with amazing staff. x
