Lake Bolsena is beautiful. Hotel Holiday is cozy with gracious staff and wonderful food. Sits next to the lake with ease to the old town

Disappointment, at 4 stars there is perhaps the pool and the exterior, for the rest barely a 3-star at an exaggerated price. Room with dirty parquet, dated furniture, air conditioning not optimal and temperature not adjustable, usable only at minimum speed otherwise noisy, dusty air vent. Additional pillows without pillowcases or protective dust covers. Shower dispenser completely empty, pool towels not present in the room as indicated in the hotel services brochure. Stay ruined due to serious hygienic and functional deficiencies in the other family member's room, who had to change hotels; no care or respect for the customer was shown by the ownership. Breakfast with clearly non-local products, cold cuts and pieces of cheese from mass retail, gluten-free products not highlighted as a 4-star breakfast would require. Restaurant dining room lacking attention to detail, outdoor cushions in the breakfast area not always well cleaned. Positive side of the hotel, the location with a lake view.

4-star hotel in price only. Premise: they required full prepayment for the entire stay. Through two separate emails, they confirmed that the rooms were suitable for people with allergies because they were well cleaned. Upon my arrival, the situation was nothing short of indecent due to: - air filters with cobwebs - bathroom exhaust fan with what I would call "geological" dust deposits - outlets and every corner with layered dust - insects in the common areas - bedroom floor not clean - baseboards, wallpaper, and floor with settled dust - bed rails very dirty - broken trash can without a pedal - clogged sink - air conditioning not working - run-down dining room with dilapidated table decorations To this premise is added the rudeness and arrogance of the staff. Faced with my observations upon my arrival, my room was changed, but the situation was the same. Nightmare night because the air conditioner was not working. The following morning, no hot water. At 6:30 AM, no answer from the reception. As I went down for breakfast, I was literally attacked by a woman and a man (perhaps the owners) who threatened to have the police clear the room if I continued to complain. Mind you, I paid 168 euros in advance for a room for one person! At that point, I said that I would call the Carabinieri if they did not refund me instantly. At this point, they demanded that I change hotels, but to one in the same chain. I insisted on a refund and left the so-called 4-star hotel for another 4-star hotel in the area and of a different chain. The vacation with my family members was ruined because we were split between 2 hotels. This is the attention reserved for a person with a respiratory condition...
