Meet Gardalake Hostel

Whilst it might look like a decent hostel in theory, the facts are: Rude & arrogant staff who treat you like a commodity not a person. Response to feedback childish and unprofessional. Terrible kitchen that I had zero desire to cook in, with 2 old fridges filled with leftovers so unable to store food either. Outside eating space dark and bug infested. Overrun by German school kids- 2 coach loads during my stay, apparently 5 during the days before. Excessive noise, breakfast service taken over, just 2 toasters. Breakfast was also just warm milk and dry bread. Door handle to room broken, meaning door was left mostly unlocked so zero security. No action taken to fix for more than a week. Showers dirty.

For me, it is a staple every time I come to the area, and I have been there and returned multiple times; I am finally finding the time to note some key points about the property that I have consistently encountered over time. The first is the affordability of the accommodation; it is not a given because, nowadays, even hostels in many locations offer high rates, not always competitive with equally affordable accommodation of other types. Here, perhaps because the area is quite expensive anyway, you can still stay at acceptable prices. The dorms are spacious, very basic, and their condition obviously does not depend only on the hostel staff but also and above all on the guests. I have ended up with perfect roommates, and the stay was optimal, and sometimes with less perfect people, and there was no shortage of inconveniences. The property is not to blame, but perhaps what is a bit lacking is a dynamic to promptly address situations clearly created by 'inattentive' guests so that others do not pay the consequences too much. Returning to the advantages, the location: it is not in the center of Peschiera, but it takes little time to get there on foot. On the other hand, it is easy to get around to any destination on the lake and in the area from here, and there are plenty of free parking spaces in front of and around it. The welcome is decent, generally friendly and cheerful. Recommended if you only need a bed to sleep in and a bathroom to wash up in so you can always be out touring, at the lowest possible price. And then maybe, surprisingly, you might also happen to find something else, for example, some new friendships.

I would not recommend staying at Meet Lake Garda Hostel. The conditions were honestly unacceptable. There was visible mold in the rooms, along with a wasp nest, which made it feel unsafe and completely unhygienic. The showers were even worse there was a strong sewage smell, and it felt disgusting to use them. It’s basic maintenance that clearly isn’t being taken seriously here. Overall, the cleanliness and upkeep were extremely poor, especially considering the price. Nothing about the stay felt comfortable or properly managed.Definitely not worth it I’d strongly suggest finding somewhere else around Lake Garda.
