3749 Ponte Chiodo Guest House

We stayed at 3749 Ponte Chiodo in early May for a week. It is a wonderful small guesthouse over looking a canal (doesn't everything in Venice?). While the room was small it was fully equipped and had a nice bathroom with a good size shower. Breakfasts were included and were excellent and were served outdoors in the beautiful garden. Across the canal behind 3749 Ponte Chiodo is a street of local restaurants that were full of locals so you got a relaxed Venetian experience. It was easy to get to after getting off the boat from the airport, just s short walk. The owner, Matteo, was a great host. He helped us a lot in deciding what we would do each day.

We were in Venice to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we stayed at this B&B from 12 to 14 March 2026. On the morning of March 13, his birthday, leaving the terrace after breakfast, the host aggressively demanded that my husband present his ID immediately (while it was in the room). He asked us to follow him inside, near his office on the ground floor, then insisted on photographing my husband’s ID and mine. When taking the picture, he questioned my husband and asked him if he was “a terrorist” and suggested, by this gesture, that we will see if my husband will be stopped by the police. We were deeply distressed by this verbal violence; it ruined our stay in Venice. The accommodation is okay, but the reception is unacceptable and potentially discriminatory.

Clean, comfortable & authentic Venetian guest house. Me and my partner stayed here from 18th September - 22nd September 2025, and I have no complaints at all. Mattia greeted us the moment we arrived and gave us a map of Venice, highlighting recommended restaurants & routes - this was so helpful considering we’ve never been before! He is generally there for a few hours most mornings - a very friendly face who is very helpful and supportive. Every morning breakfast is served 08:30 - 10:30 and has a lovely variety of food. The staff make coffee/tea for you and support you with whatever your needs are, they’re also really friendly. The kitchen is there for you to use if needed - we really appreciated this. The outside garden area is perfect and comfortable, ideal when you’ve been walking around all day and don’t want to spend too much time in your room. The room we stayed in (with external bathroom - just across the hall, we could lock the bathroom) had a lovely view of the water. It was very comfortable and the air conditioning was perfect. We did find it unusual that we didn’t get clean towels every day (they’re renewed every 3 days) but this is just a difference from the UK, and is very environmentally friendly, so we actually didn’t mind this at all! The location is brilliant. It’s not in a really busy location so it’s lovely and quiet, but it’s also not too far from the lively streets of Cannaregio. We thought the price of the stay was super reasonable for what you get. We would highly recommend this guest house, and would definitely return!
