Bed and Breakfast San Giacomo Venezia

They are a bunch of thieves. When I arrived at the hotel there was no one to welcome me, that is, I had that behind another hotel being full of bags and in another country. ABSURD

Very unpleasant and, above all, disturbing experience. During our stay in May 2025 we had several issues both with the property (bathroom issues) but especially with the host. When we politely pointed this out, Davide, the owner, became irritated and started an argument, basically implying that we had no right to complain. Even during the stay, his attitude had already made us feel uncomfortable and, looking back, we now see it as a first warning sign. The most serious part happened after check-out: one of the guests received a private message from the owner containing sexually explicit and completely inappropriate comments regarding a personal item accidentally left in the room. We found this behavior deeply disrespectful, disturbing, and entirely incompatible with the level of professionalism and respect guests should expect from an accommodation provider. I’m Italian myself, but I am writing this in English because I believe it is important that international tourists, especially women travelling alone or with friends, are aware of this experience before booking.

We recently stayed in Venice at the San Giacomo Venice hotel, and it was truly an excellent decision! I had read some negative reviews beforehand, but I would like to refute them. The host sent us messages both on the day of our arrival and the day before, explaining how to reach the accommodation. He even offered to come and meet us if we got lost, asking us to simply call him. As for the owner himself – he was extremely kind, friendly, helpful, and polite. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and tidy, and I would especially like to point out that it smelled wonderfully fresh! We had a lovely, well-maintained room, and we hardly even noticed that the bathroom was shared – all the guests were clean and considerate, and a friendly cleaning lady came every day to keep everything perfectly clean and organized. It was such a good feeling to come back after long, active days and relax in this place! The bed was extremely comfortable – I haven’t slept this well in a long time. The air conditioning cooled the room very quickly, so it didn’t need to run for long. Breakfasts were delicious, accompanied by amazing Italian coffee prepared personally by the host. On Saturday, we had to leave before the usual breakfast time, but he came earlier just so we could enjoy our breakfast before departing – such a kind gesture! We usually met the owner only in the mornings, and he does not live on the property. All in all, this was one of the best travel experiences of our lives, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Venice! Once again, thank you for everything! :) Andrea & Balázs
