Bel Sito

We have stayed in Venice before and found hotel Bel sito to be very well positioned. The vaperetto station is only a couple of minutes walk away and water taxi’s can pull up right at the hotel. It’s close to Piazza del SAN Marco and many other important sights. The staff were very friendly and the room was well appointed, clean and very quiet for a good nights sleep despite being on a canal. We loved watching all the gondolas go by from our window. The air conditioning( very important in summer in Venice during a heat wave) was the best we have had in Italy. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. As was the bar in the afternoon. It also had a lovely garden courtyard which would be beautiful in slightly cooler weather. There are many lovely restaurants and cafes etc nearby. A great stay for our 3 nights in Venice. The front desk staff members were friendly and incredibly helpful with our many questions. We don't speak Italian and so we were relieved that they all spoke English. The location of the hotel is literally steps from a vaporetto line 1 stop, although it's done a tight little alleyway that you wouldn't think leads anywhere! It's on a little square that is a short walk away from the big tourist highlights (e.g., Piazza San Marco) and plenty of restaurants nearby. From the shorline, you can also see Basilica Santa Maria della Salute. If you like to run, you can head over to Piazza San Marco and then access the waterfront and a beautiful quiet park at the east end of the island. I'm a big eater and the breakfast buffet satisified me. It had a mix of typical North American morning foods (e.g., scrambled eggs, pancakes) and European bites too (e.g., mini-croissant sandwiches, sliced cheeses). If there's room for improvement with this hotel, it is that sound easily carries between rooms, so when neighbours watched TV, snored, or people spoke in the hallway, it was quite audible in our room. You can also hear people in the street, if you're facing that direction. The shower stall in our bathroom was very tight. Personally, I would have removed the standalone bidet to make more room for the shower, but that's a North American centric view. That all said, we would happily stay in this hotel again.
