Unfortunately, due to sudden severe bereavement, I was unable to leave. At the time of booking I had accepted a non-refundable rate, so I take full responsibility for the choice made. However, there are situations in life that go beyond any contractual clause.
I would have expected at least a minimum of understanding or flexibility from the property, if only in the form of a human gesture, such as the ability to move dates or find an alternative solution. Instead, I found total rigidity and no opening, as if behind the booking there was no person but only a number.
In addition, I tried several times to contact the property by phone to explain the situation, but without any response. It was like disappearing into thin air: no support, no assistance, no attempt to meet me.
I understand the rules, but I think the way you treat customers in difficult times says much more than any service offered. This experience left me with a bitter disappointment, not so much for the financial loss, but for the total lack of empathy.
I hope you can reconsider your approach in similar situations in the future.

We stayed at the Caneva Hotel in Venice on Thursday 25 September, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing.
At first glance, the room is spacious, but it immediately gives the impression of emptiness and neglect. Carpeting on the floor is stained, smells bad and reinforces this feeling of lack of maintenance. Single-glazed windows let through a lot of noise: every time a boat passed, the windows shook, making it difficult to sleep.
The bathroom, meanwhile, is far from up to scratch: very little water pressure, almost no hot water, and above all a glaring lack of cleanliness. We found hair in the shower as well as on the floor. For a hotel, this is unacceptable.
The entrance hall does not give a better impression either: dirty, littered with butts, obviously without the slightest recent sweep. The reception reflects the same mess as the rooms, giving a general impression of clutter and let go.
As for the bedding, it remains relatively comfortable, but basic: only a sheet and a bed top, no blanket, which is insufficient.
Only positive: the location, ideal 5 minutes from the Rialto bridge, which is very convenient to discover Venice.
In short, if the check-in went smoothly, everything else leaves something to be desired. This establishment would benefit from a review of its name, as it is more like a basic dormitory than a real hotel.
