Locanda Sant'Anna

I loved the location of the hotel in the Biennale area of Venice, 10 minute walk from a boat stop. So that is about all that was positive about this experience, which is why they have been given one star. Everything else was terrible - from the room full of mosquitoes, to the air conditioning unit that did not work properly to being woken up by the maid every single morning at 8 am - 9am, using her own key to enter the room each time without knocking and then acting surprised that I am in bed trying to sleep. The worst is yet to come. As the day that arrived for me to check out, I happened to forget the key that locks my door (although sems like they have enough keys for every room, since the maid also has a copy!) I was rushing for a world premiere of my friend's film which was a much-anticipated film at the Venice Film Festival, which is why I was on this little island. I was rushing around late and had to move accommodation from this hotel to an apartment. I forgot to drop off the key and so then the maid and owner of the hotel proceeded to HARASS me on the phone, via WhatsApp, all day long, every 30 minutes, calling and threatening me. It was very uncomfortable, upsetting and disappointing. I did return the key but only after I told them I would call the police if they did not stop harassing me. I advise any solo female travelers to NOT book this hotel and especially if you are a POC.

If you want to sleep in the real Venice, where true Venetians still live, ordinary people who study or work, then go to this former nunnery in Castello. It would need to be renovated or at least modernised, but that's fine with me, in absolute silence, in a very clean room, without a lift, or breakfast, since Melita is 2 minutes away anyway... But don't go when there's Biennial because I want to go back.

Comfortable and pleasant, worth the money. The view from the window was amazing, and the host especially nice and helpful. The room was nice, with nice breeze coming from the windows, and the air conditioning worked fine. Shower had hot water. Recommend and worth the money!
