We rented the ground floor apartment at Ca' Sarasina through VRBO for 4 nights in May of 2013. Our flight into Venice had been cancelled, so we arrived a day later than originally anticipated, but the owner, Luigia, was very accommodating, and met us at the Giardini vaporetto stop to escort us to the apartment. The apartment is on a residential street (Calle Sarasina) in the Giardini district, very close to the public gardens, the park-like Vialle Giuseppe Garibaldi, and the shopping street of Via Giuseppe Garibaldi. An excellent area, perhaps 20 minutes walking distance to St. Mark's Square. Via Guiseppe Garibaldi offers a number of restaurants (Trattoria Sottoprova was our favorite), and a grocery store, and is just a short walk from your front door. The apartment was compact but well-equipped, with a toaster, electric kettle, range, and microwave. It's ground floor, so there are no views, but windows along both walls allow for a nice breeze. Although the area is residential, and doesn't get a lot of foot traffic, the walks are narrow and cobbled, so they tend to amplify the sound of passers-by, so it's best to close the windows in the evening for a good night's sleep. That being said, we didn't really find noise to be a problem. The apartment is equipped with an electric fan and a portable-type air conditioner. The air conditioner wasn't hooked up (and wasn't necessary) since the evenings were pretty chilly. Having a nice base outside of the crush of the tourist zones was wonderful, and being able to walk up the quiet tree-lined Vialle for breakfast each morning was a welcome respite from the usual bustle of Venice. My only regret is that our visit there was shortened due to our arrival delay.

ideal area for the Giardini and Arsenale (Art Biennale). Clean attractive well decorated well set up mod-cons appartment - we spent 9 days there and enjoyed it.. The very amiable owner meets you at the vapporetti stop and shows you all the details eg air con, washing machine. Only problem is that it is ground floor and hence has no view and often noisy people walk by at night. But the price is excellent for Venice and the area gives you a sense of how the locals live.
