Structure quite dated, owner and very kind staff but it is not enough because the building needs a radical "modernization", the carpet in the rooms is not the best, the shower for my entire stay provided cold water because there was a problem with the system, but in the middle of winter is not conceivable, I understand one night but then not. The rooms are still very small, if you just need accommodation to sleep then it is ok. Hearty and varied breakfast.

We booked this hotel over the phone but the receptionist spoke no English so the booking was made through French. The lady appeared happy to accommodate our late arrival after the opera however, her jovial demeanour changed when we showed up in a taxi (26 euro fare!!) at about 12.45. She appeared to have been aroused from her slumber and looked a little dishevelled and sounded miffed that we had showed up despite the booking. We were speedily sent to our room with a curt "bonne nuit" without being able to avail of the services advertised on the website (i.e. bar or restaurant) Room was small but serviceable, however shortly after some strange noises began to emanate from the adjoining bathroom. Assuming the plumbing was a little dodgy, we ignored it for some time, however, as the call of nature became more urgent we had to avail of the facilities only to discover a 5 or 6 inch green locust perched on the shower rail who was not too happy we had invaded his territory! As nobody was on duty at the reception we had to retire for the night despite the nocturnal activities of our winged friend flying frantically around the bathroom. The next morning we made a complaint and we were allocated alternative bathroom facilities while our uninvited guest continued to use ours! Breakfast was a meagre affair of juice, tea and bread, none of our requests were met, the receptionist now in a cameo role as waitress! Thinking we should make a hasty retreat back into Verona, we were directed to the nearby bus stop, only to discover the Italians love of strikes. We had to return to "Locust Hotel" to make some more enquiries. Ms. Congeniality (aka receptionist and waitress) directed us to a minibus outside bearing the hotel logo and driven by a male staff member (very courteous, it should be noted) what we didn't know was this was going to cost us an extra 10 euro. A very expensive night of the Opera!!
