Hotel Scalzi seems only a 2 star rating however it is better than the rating. We were upgraded from the hotel to the apartment which was great, so I cannot review the hotel rooms. Temperatures were 35C upwards but the aircon was great. Breakfast wasn't a massive choice but more than acceptable. Location was perfect, 10 mins walk to centre and 10 mins walk to the main bus and train station. If you are going to the Arena for a concert , take seat covers as it can be uncomfortable to sit for long periods and very hot. Went to Venice and Lake Garda , very very busy with tourists. About 5 minute walk from the hotel is a fantastic small bar , order drinks and the 2 guys giving out snacks for free to our table , ' La loggia dei Due' Bistro, worth a visit if you are nearby. Reception closes at 8pm and ordering taxis can be confusing. We could not order a taxi the evening before travelling to the airport for pick up after 7am. Good of the hotel breakfast staff to help us order a taxi for 7am.

Hotel Scalzi was a wonderful hotel, central so that walking everywhere was easy. The hotel itself was beautiful, very stylish with great rooms and the breakfast excellent in the stunning secret garden room. Norman on Reception was incredibly helpful and gave us invaluable advice on travel and organised our taxi this morning. Loved Verona and would definitely stay at Hotel Scalzi again. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

We’ve just arrived here and we’re gutted. If we’d seen the room before we paid there’s no way we’d have stayed here. I’m struggling to find any redeeming features. Verona is the end of a beautiful holiday in Italy and we’re ending it on a real low. We’re in a room with a rail, a few left over coat hangers, sticky floor tiles, a bathroom that floods because the shower door is too small. We feel like we’re in some awful B&B that hadn’t been touched since the 70’s. We’ve dumped our stuff and gone straight out because the room is making me itch. By the way, straight out is into a busy main road. I could cry it’s so awful. Possibly, the most awful room I’ve stayed in. Don’t stay here.
