Nagoya Marunouchi Tokyu Inn

This Toyoko Inn provides a shuttle service to Nagoya Station with two minibuses. The subway station is close by, but we have luggage, so this service is very helpful.

The Toyoko Inn chain shows very strong brand consistency indeed, so if you have ever stayed in another Toyoko, you know what to expect here. It is a relatively affordable, very practical hotel geared for Japanese business travelers, with very small rooms, although still comfortably spacious if you compare them to a capsule hotel capsule.. The Marunouchi area of Nagoya is very businesslike and rather smart. Finding the hotel from the underground station can be a bit of a challenge as the local information area map does not show it, or not show very clearly -the main thing is to remember using Exit 1, not any of the other eight exits. I found the (Japanese style) breakfast to be slightly better than the Toyoko average. The shower has very strong water pressure and you can even find a copy of the New York Times at breakfast, which is remarkable in a country where foreign press is the rarest of creatures. Aichi Prefectural Library is a two-minute walk away and there is a free shuttle going to Nagoya station and the airport, which could save you money.

The hotel is a long walk from the Marinouchi station. If you're taking heavy luggage be aware that there many steps, up and down as you walk to the exit 8. No elevator at exit 8. Rooms are comfortable with many power points. TV is only Jap with a pay per use set top box. Bathroom is noisy when you flag. It's one of those preformed plastic cubicles which I dislike. Service staff are always busy and in a rush. We had breakfast with the room and from a westerner point of view, it's lousy. Step out and turn left to the rice n pork chop place at the corner and you'll get a much better breakfast. There is a free shuttle to the train station we took it in the morning. This service ends at 10 in the morning. There is an afternoon service that starts at 5pm.
