Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka

After 20 years at a bargain airplane sale, I came to Hakata for authentic tonkotsu ramen. The deciding factor for the hotel was the standing ground and the high breakfast rating, and this time we used it for two nights. I was at a loss with New Otani at the time of booking, but it was the result of considering the price and location. We put guest beds in twin rooms and used them for three people, but as expected, they felt too small, but since they are accommodation-specific, I don't feel particularly stressed. You can also leave your luggage before check-in and after check-out. The good things about this hotel are the convenience of transportation and shopping, as well as the amenity, breakfast (especially drinks and desserts), Mirabulous showerheads and friendly staff. The staff is mostly foreign, but everyone is fluent in Japanese and there were no communication problems at all. On the other hand, we want to see improvements: poor water drainage in the bathtub and wash basin, poor air conditioning, weak bathroom ventilation fans, and poor refrigerators. Also, the front lobby and the hotel entrance are so compact that you can't see the entrance. The car stop was also a mini size. It was located along the main street, close to both the office and downtown areas, and it was during the Hakata Yamakasa season, so it seemed like it was fully booked, but there was little noise. There were many restaurants in the area and it was very busy until midnight, and there were also some ramen shops. There will also be two food stalls opposite the hotel. Subway and Nishitetsu stations, department stores, Nakasu and Canal City were also within easy walking distance. I had to go to the suburbs at short notice, but there are several rental car agencies nearby. It is also compact, but it is directly connected to the convenience store on the first floor, so you can always have a cold beer. The hotel seemed to have more visitors from China and South Korea, but only Japanese people used the breakfast venue for both days. Breakfast was full with a wide variety. The sweets were also very abundant and delicious in the morning. Burdock root tempura udon was served on the first day, and tonkotsu ramen was served on the second. There were some overlapping menus, but I enjoyed it for two days and especially recommended breakfast. It's not exactly a luxury hotel, but it's relatively reasonable, and I was happy enough to compare it to the soaring prices of hotels in Tokyo.

With an outstanding location within walking distance of Fukuoka Tenjin Station, it is a convenient place to stay for both sightseeing and business. There are many shopping and restaurants around, so there is nothing to worry about during your stay. While indoor flooring can give a stylish impression, you might be a little concerned about barefoot. You may also be concerned about noises and scratches when moving chairs or suitcases, and this is something you may like. Overall, it was a convenient and comfortable place to stay.

We were travelling to Fukuoka for a pleasure trip and were booked into this hotel recommended by the agent JTB over more superior hotels in the Tenjin district in Fukuoka City. It is officially billed as a 4 star hotel but immediately apparent that the other 4 star hotels within walking distance have bigger and better facilities. The standard twin room here is a little more than 20 sq. metres and the bathroom is dingy and poorly lit to say the least. There is no drawer inside or outside the room closet to put garments so a guest has to live out of the suitcase. The shower curtain over the bathtub is so short and flimsy it is impossible not to wet the floor while taking a shower unless one is squatting in the tub. Housekeeping has not bothered to clean behind the desk and cupboards so globs of dust and dirt are clearly visible. The buffet breakfast is one of the poorest quality one can experience in a 4 star hotel anywhere in Japan. The only 4 star experience we’ve had is the room rate.
