I have used a Nakamachi hotel before, but this time I was fascinated by the nearby natural hot spring Fuji no Yu with free admission tickets, so I took advantage of the low-cost Economy Twin Room no-show plan. It is a business hotel that has been around for a long time in front of Aizu-Wakamatsu Station, but the interior has been renovated and is beautiful, it is not large but I was comfortable. The nearby Fuji-no-yu is only for the sauna, but the large public bath was spacious and pleasant, and I enjoyed the open-air bath, Jacuzzi bath and medicinal bath. The location is a 1 minute walk from Aizu Wakamatsu Station, and the convenience store is a short walk from 7-Eleven (300 m), but there is a convenience store (until 21:00) at the station and a supermarket next door, so there is no inconvenience in shopping. The Sakaemachi area, which has many long-established restaurants, is a little more than 1 km away, but there were also quite a few restaurants in the station area. It's not a new shiny hotel, but it's well maintained, well serviced, reasonably priced and recommended.

The next day, we stayed at Aizu-Wakamatsu to ride the Tadami Line. From Niitsu, Niigata Prefecture, he arrived at Aizu Wakamatsu at 18:59 by train on the Banetsu Nishi Line. Once you leave the station, you will find this hotel with a strong presence on your right. (I must be a long time ago, but 50 years ago, in 1974, I stayed at the Fuji Grand Hotel to film the C11, the last active steam locomotive in the Aizu area. I think it is the present Nakamachi Fuji Grand Hotel because it was away from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station.) It's good to get to the hotel without hesitation from the station. The staff at the front desk and the crisp clothes are also nice. This is where you decide the type (Japanese/Western) and time of breakfast the next morning. I was very grateful to be able to get a free ticket to Fuji no Yu at the affiliated hot spring facility. In the cafeteria, if you eat, you get a coupon that serves as low-malt wine but also gives you a free mug of Nodogoshi. (There's also Ichiban Shibori, which is beer.) The last order was at 9 p.m. on weekdays, so I used the restaurant "Taro Yuage" in the Fuji Yukan earlier and then enjoyed the bath. I took a slow bath and took away the fatigue from the trip. It costs a little more than a regular room, but non-smoking single room C Forty-five mattresses chose an airweave room. I took a relaxing bath, which helped me to relax. The rooms may be somewhat aged, but they are constantly updated to reflect the times. Nano-e equipped and USB outlet available. Some people point out that the keys to the rooms are locked rather than auto-locked, but I have no problem staying at many business hotels, city hotels and Inn since the Showa era. Breakfast is served at a Chinese restaurant with a prominent moon cave gate on the third floor. Set meals are served neatly. It's nice not to eat too much in the morning. It's a different perspective. I'm a non-smoker (I've been smoking for more than a decade), but I used to carry a card for a cigarette vending machine. I was impressed by the swanky vending machine in front of the front desk. (This card ends in March 2026, and before then, will the machine accept new bills issued from July 2024?) In general, it was a hotel that felt the passage of time and warmth of the Showa era and the Showa era. The hotel was not as systematic and stylish as a major business hotel chain, but there was something nostalgic about the Showa generation. The official website also felt warm and handmade. I felt it was a hotel doing its best. I want to support hotels like this. When I come to the Aizu region again, I want to stay there.
