Kunugidaira Hotel

We stayed in this hotel as it was close to the start/finish point of a hiking event. Facilities are very much standard of its class. Service is excellent but it is usually good in Japan. Except for special events, there is limited foreign tourist. For those who want to explore Mt Adatara, this hotel is recommended

Dont be put off by the outside of Kunugidaira Ryokan which is very plain, the inside is much more inviting. Large lobby has wifi zone, but not available in rooms, so pick up a docomo wireless box at the airport from telecom sqare and you will get good coverage everywhere in and out and about. Everyone friendly and welcoming. Spacious traditional rooms, with seating during the day and made up as futon beds in the evening. We had a room overlooking the picturesqe lake, with a balcony. A lovely view of sunrise in the mornings. Indoor and outdoor Hot springs very good, Food is varied and plentiful, and guessing what your eating makes it entertaining, go local and wear the robes provided in your rooms down to dinner. There is a small shop in the lobby, and good local village shops a short drive or 10 minute walk away. 8 min drive to Ebisu circuit
