Futarishizuka Hakuun Hotel

Typical Japanese style hotel. Located a bit away from the tourist area, but within easy walking distance (after a short climb). On arrival they are made to take off their shoes and are given slippers. In state there are traditional clothes that can be used both inside the hotel and outside. It has a public wave (included in the living room) that I did not enter, so I can not judge, and a private one (by reservation, at a cost of 1000 Yen). The private onsen is located outside the property, outdoors with city views. The staff doesn't speak much English (especially the older ones), but they make themselves understood. The room is the classic Japanese style room, seen in some anime, where you sit on the floor and sleep in the futon (which will be prepared by the staff during dinner), but at the same time has all the modern conveniences (TV, fridge, electrical outlets, Japanese toilet). It is quite spacious and the bathroom is divided into 2, toilet area and washing area (where there is a bathtub). Dinner and breakfast are basically similar, no buffet and no choice (I do not know how it works in case of intolerances or special needs). Typical Japanese dishes are served, and both the quantity and quality are good. Great to live an experience as similar as possible to the traditional one.

At check in Massa attended us, was super friendly and attentive. He walked us to the room to explain the workings of everything. It was in every detail, it had even left us in the room a map of the city in Spanish. That showed that he fixates on every detail. The hotel is a small boutique hotel, beautiful. The rooms are super spacious, all new and decorated with incredible taste. It has compartmentalized bathroom and room space in Japanese style for beautiful tea It is very close to the train station we arrived walking.

We stayed one night in this ryokan to try the experience and all in all I would say it was positive. As soon as you arrive immediately after check-in you are taken for a tour of the whole structure and the room and are given some instructions for using the yukata, the room, the Olsen, etc... The structure itself did not give me the impression of being spotless but remains at least in the standards. The room is nice and particular and the bed is kindly prepared by the tree staff while you are outside. The dinner was a positive experience, the meat of Hida is obviously the protagonist but everything from the appetizer to the dessert (perhaps the latter a little less, they could try harder) was appreciated. There is the possibility to use the Olsen (really beautiful and with a beautiful view) also with tattoos or there is the possibility to rent another one privately for only 1000 yen. We could not rent it because when we arrived everything was already occupied and in fact both the men's and women's Olsen was deserted (there were only us). The same thing happened at dinner where only we decided to eat in the restaurant while everyone opted for dinner in the room. Beware that the ryokan is located on top of a hill where no public transport arrives and those with mobility problems may suffer. Being my first ryokan I can not compare it with other structures but I would say that the experience was all in all positive and that I would definitely do it again
