We really enjoyed our experience at this traditional hotel. We slept surprisingly well on the futon mattresses. The room was comfortable and the staff at the hotel were really lovely. We had dinner with our group of 26. It was 8 courses that were unfortunately served at a record pace, we were done within an hour this was because another group was after us. That was unfortunate. The food was high quality and beautifully presented. We didn't find all of it yummy but that is just not being use to Japanese flavors and textures. Breakfast was the same, again beautifully presented. We also enjoyed the onsen and the foot bath. Location was also good, very close to the old town. We would return!

It didn't even surprise me because in Takayama I've been in better ryokans. Lack of decorative taste, friendly staff, good location very close to the city center. Nice onsen baths.

We stayed in this Riokan for our honeymoon, we had the Japanese Style Room With Open Air Bath which allowed us to enjoy the onsen directly from our room. The staff is very courteous and helpful to meet the needs of guests. The dinner and breakfast experience were wonderful
