For me, the hotel is a little expensive but it might be the best choice around Hirayu Onsen, especially you could enjoy the view from the it. Personally, I like the design of the room, which you walk into in a narrow hall, and then find out the largest place with the huge window. In winter, it's all white outside, but the view is good, and you will feel very comfortable when you are just sitting inside and looking at it. You have several choices for Onsen, and I recommend that you try all of them, especially the outside onsen. For some of the onsen, it will be cold for you to walk to it, since part of the road will be outside. I know it is kind of interesting, but remember to wear warm if you want to try them. The hotel also provides spaces for relaxing after the onsen and late-night soba. For dinner and breakfast, the solo traveller will be seated toward the window, which is great, as you can see the view of Snow Mountain. The food is delicious, and you could even add orders or Yakiniku and so on. I highly recommend the Hida beef; you should try them. Personally, I will definitely choose this hotel if I come to Hirayu Onsen again.

Nephrorad

One of the best locations visited in Japan during a 22-day traveling stay. Excellent accommodation facility equipped with all comforts: large rooms with availability of cypress bath and running thermal water h24. Then private onsen usable for 45 minutes. Finally large public onsen with both indoor and outdoor pools of generous size. Also, common areas for reading, writing, TV and soft drinks. Well organized and fast check-in. It is true that there is nothing around but unspoilt nature (even monkeys can be seen), but it is still worth climbing up here just to relax and be pampered (with time available there are various excursions to do in the adjacent park of Kamikochi). Even the dinner included in our half board is really of a high standard: delicious appetizers, Hida beef in several versions, grilled river fish and amberjack, octopus in tempura, grilled vegetables, soba and dessert samples based on fruit and bean paste. To highlight: all very kind and helpful with a widespread, good knowledge of English. Hard place to forget!

Nice place but disappointing : when we checked in, we were told to book our diner at 5.30 or 5.45. 😱very early for diner !!! We noticed after beeing served that there was a second service…. We were told that public bath were closed only privates open… when we visited the public bath in the evening, we heard people in there !!.. In the room: One lamp because one bedside table only… no plug closeby…. Just one at the entrance and one behind the TV! Same towel for the privets bath and the bathroom !!…. only one pillow per person…. And our stay in not over! …. Restaurant and service very good. Some staff won’t speak very well English…
