I became very ill after dinner on the first night, and so did my 14-year-old son — the food was clearly not fresh. I informed the front desk, explaining that this was the first time this had happened to us in three weeks in Japan and that I would prefer to cancel dinner on the second night. They refused to cancel it and charged us for both the second dinner and the breakfast, even though we never showed up and therefore did not eat anything!

Second experience in a ryokan, already a shuttle comes to pick us up at the ferry terminal, we arrive in a forest, we are welcomed by a lady speaking impeccable French, very helpful and kind, we did not have our cottage right away so after a walk on Mount Misen, we discover it upon our return, magnificent, the tranquility with the sound of the small river, the deer roaming free. The meal is very good, the service impeccable, we will return with joy.

Beautiful property on a beautiful island steeped in history. Staff was friendly and meals outstanding. Our recommendation for improvement would be to consider newer futons as these were abit hard in comparison to other ryokans we stayed in during our wonderful Japan visit!
