Abashiri Kanko Hotel

Stay at 5/3. It is located halfway up Mt. The building is pretty old, and is it okay to stay on the outside? It was at a level I thought it was, but the inside is rather clean. But the facilities are old. The room was single, but there was a bed in the Japanese-style room. However, the mattress is placed directly on the tatami, probably to prevent damage to the tatami, so it is extremely low. The baths are large and have a lot of currants, but the water is poor because of the weak water pressure. For dinner, we had Genghis Khan, half-buffet with crab, but maybe just a buffet.

In July 2025, I stayed overnight in the Annex Western-style Twin. ◆Room The wallpaper was stained with age, dusty but spacious. From the window we could see Lake Abashiri. The unit baths were also old and the floor felt distorted, which was scary. The hook on the door to hang the bath towel had come off and I couldn't put it on. The button to flush the toilet was old and stiff. ◆ Meals Dinner was 90 minutes all you could drink and eat. There was no sashimi but garlic shrimp. The steak was tender and delicious, but it would have been nice if it had a description of where it came from. There were many side dishes that served as a snack on alcohol. I was able to choose freely without being assigned a seat, so I could eat slowly. Breakfast was delicious with salmon, how much, squid and tuna seafood bowls. There was a wide variety of fish and vegetables. There was no fruit, fruit cocktails and frozen mangoes. ◆ Public bath There were many washrooms, large dressing rooms and lockers with keys. There was also an open-air bath and sauna. The room showed deterioration over time, but the view from the room was wonderful and the food was satisfying. I'd love to visit again if I had the chance.

Our third stay at Abashiri Kanko since 2014 June. Room and service is OK, no surprise. Hotel, especially the rooms should be in a better shape if renovated. WiFi service is OK at times in the lobby but still no WiFi in rooms. Onsen is excellent. Breakfast is still quite good and decent even though, comparing to 2014, a bit not as before. Still our choice if we come to Abashiri again.
