This will be my first and last time staying at a Hotel Global View / Rio Hotels brand. The weather is cold and the window doesn’t close all the way, so the hotel attempted to tape it shut prior to our arrival. You can still feel the cold breeze and hear the wind noise all night. The heater/AC only blows cold air. The Wi-Fi is poor and often doesn’t work. The shower and toilet area is smaller than on a cruise. It’s difficult to open your luggage with the small roll. And Jyo, the front desk boy is a jerk, well, unless you’re Japanese. The first thing that was said to us when we arrived was “check-in is at 3 PM”… not “Hello,” not “Welcome to the Hotel,” just a rude statement. I passed this off as perhaps Jyo knew limited English, but based on my full interactions with him I learned that he was just a fluent jerk. Initially, I thought maybe he doesn’t like westerners until I saw how he was even more rude to a Vietnamese guy who tried to check-in. First he told him to go somewhere else and come back at 3 PM. Then when the guy lined up at 2:57 PM, Jyo said… it’s not 3 PM, you’re 3 minutes early. I was shocked, and saw how it wasn’t just me but anyone that he spoke English to. Later I saw Jyo greet Japanese customers at the door, with a polite tone, helped them with their luggage, and smiled. The way Jyo treats foreigners is unacceptable, and when speaking with the manager, Kishita, I saw how he didn’t give a damn. His response was “Sorry, did you get checked in” and “what else do you want” that’s when I realized I was wasting my time. The hotel openly discriminates against people with tattoos in the onseen, it’s not surprising they do it towards foreigners at the lobby, in the case of Jyo that is. If you’re looking for a hotel that’s not near the tourist area, a 40 walk to anywhere you want to be, with a partly closed taped window in 47F (8C) weather, and a rude staff… this is a gem for you. Otherwise, I’d book a hotel closer to where you’d want to be.

Thought the service was excellent as were the staff at this hotel . The breakfast package was ok but we have had better in Japan. The location wasn't too bad with a ten minute walk to the tram stop and a 15 minutes to JR station. Taxis or uber Taxis are readily available if rain or snow ❄️ comes . The room itself was half western half Japanese with 2 single beds in one room and the other had traditional Japanese floor seats ( with table ) for 4 people, a good size dining table ( western) small kitchen type area with bigger fridge , microwave, 2 cooktop stove . Also seperate bath / shower / washroom / laundry. Great layout room 1335 . Lots of elevators too on each end of floors . We stayed in the premium tower end . .
