I booked this stay via hotels.com where it indicates the price I paid is inclusive of room, free parking and breakfast. Upon check in, the front desk said the “plan” I booked does not include parking. In any cases, I did not want to argue because she can only speaks very limited level of English, so I told her I bc an pay for the parking.
Here the drama comes, she insisted parking is free but the problem is that the “plan” I paid does not include parking. If I want to park my car, I have to pay for a “plan” that is inclusive of parking. The price of this new “plan” is 2.5 times more than what I have paid!!! That means I have to pay an additional US$80 for one night parking in this village!
I decided to show her the confirmation from hotels.com where it clearly shows it is inclusive of free parking and that I have already settled all payment for my one night stay! She was then speaking to herself for 2 mins in Japanese which I couldn’t understand (I guess it is not something good). At last, she turned around with her long face and reluctantly allowed me to check in!
Later, I went down to the reception and asked for an adapter to charge my phone (as mine was not working). Unfortunately I met the same lady, she just rudely said “No! Nothing for you!”
I must say I kept my smile and has always talked to her with a positive and polite manner. This is the forat tome I received such level of service in Japan!
