I have mixed feelings about Takitei. Let’s start with the positives. Very nice, high quality rooms with everything that you will need. The private onsen is a treat. The service was top notch, with everyone at the ryokan super focused in making sure guests have a good time. The negative was the food, and the 4 of us could not understand how it got such good reviews. But let me give you a bit of context. We have been traveling through Japan and have tried a lot of food. Our experience has been great and mostly at restaurants that were not fancy. Just a wonderful foodie trip. We found Takitei’s food ordinary at best, for both dinner and breakfast. And it is a shame , because they clearly put quite a bit of effort on preparing those meals, but they were just not good. Sorry.

The quality of hot spring water is amazing We also enjoyed the fab grilled fish ( Nodoguro) They have great space in communal areas where we enjoyed the green sceneries of their garden ad nature

The initial impression was good, so I have been visiting every year since then. Each time we "slow down" by ourselves, but unfortunately we will prepare a very good room every time. Because the food here is gorgeous and large, I always ask you to be selfish and reduce the number of items. You can fully enjoy "staying at home" by taking many baths, reading slowly, and not going out. Then the "samue" was introduced. Also, the amenities you get in your room along with hand towels and so on, turned out to be L’Occitane! These two are amazing. There is something different and updated every time. That's why they come. The best is grilled nodoguro with salt. I only ate sashimi when I came to Takitei. Hot springs, rooms and meals are all satisfying. Let's all go to Ishikawa Prefecture.
