Hakone Kogen

It was my first solo trip in a while. On a cloudy day after heavy rain, I took a bus and a pirate ship to Togendai. I was lucky to be able to use the hotel's shuttle. The hotel is quiet and surrounded by greenery. The room had been renovated and was beautiful. I loved the thick bath water. I was surprised by the variety of dishes available at dinner, which was delicious. Next time, I'd like to go with my family by car during the autumn leaves season.

Although it dates from earlier times, this hotel is well maintained. Service is good, and staff go out of their way to cater to your needs. Parking is free if you drive. There is not much to eat around here but you can either drive down to the lakeshore, or go up the hill to Sengokuhara, where there are eateries. Ask for recommendations from the hotel staff.

The onsen here is very nice, if you come with family and want private onsen, there are two available. The set dinner is not so nice, as it is not served in the room. The guests seem more in the 65+ years category Very limited english skills of the staff
