Guestroom I stayed in a room with an open-air bath. I used the guest room open-air bath immediately after check-in. Is the water still a little cooler then? I only thought that the temperature of the water when I used it at night was very cold (111 degrees F) and I couldn't go in. I immediately contacted the front desk and had them adjust (come to the guest room and adjust) but after three hours the temperature didn't drop again. After all, it's out of order and can't be used! That's what he explained. Instead, I used the private bath three times, and it was quite troublesome because I had to get the key at the front desk every time and leave the building completely. At checkout, I received a verbal apology for not being able to use the guest room open-air bath. This time, I was adding a private room for a meal (5,500 yen) as an option, and I will discount that option! I mean... Accommodation on the first day of the three-day holiday is over 100,000 yen. Even though the guest room open-air bath could not be used, I was not convinced by the 5,500 yen discount, so I protested furiously! And then it's 30 percent off... Discounts if customers protest, or almost a legitimate amount if they don't? That system is unacceptable. I use the onsen ryokan 5.6 times a year, but this is the first time I have stayed at an inn like this. Of course, I'll never revisit it!

I was really disappointed and sad. This room has just been renovated. First of all, the room I was let through was a different room than the one I booked. Looks like a business hotel with only beds. There are no chairs or tables, you have to sit on a bed. Water from the sink doesn't flow, overflows and I can't brush my teeth or wash my face. I had no choice but to wet my feet in the shower drain of the large shower room. The open-air bath in the guest room is cold and surprising. When I was shown around, there was no explanation, and I poured hot water in for a while. I think you should keep warm because you would normally know when to check in. The New Year's trip to the hot springs that we both paid 110,000 yen to look forward to became a pathetic trip. I will never stay here again.

Yugawara is a town near Atami but not as crowded. Has several hidden gem style onsen hotels nearby, but this is a very authentic Japanese style ryokan with two Japanese meals (Dinner and Breakfast the following morning) included. Dinner consists of 10 or so dishes of very traditional local Japanese favorites. A bottle of white NZ Sileni is available only for 4,500 JPY (roughly 40 USD). Nice hot springs bath (onsen) and take a stroll to a beautiful park nearby.
